Star Within is an intention-setting, reflection and wellness-support tool operated by Star Therapy. It is designed to support personal clarity and practical action. It is not a healthcare service, emergency service or guarantee of any outcome.
1. Agreement and language
By creating an account, accessing or using Star Within, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
A complete French version is available at all times. The English and French versions are intended to have the same meaning. Where Quebec law permits a consumer to rely on either version, that right is preserved. Nothing in these Terms requires you to waive the right to receive documents or service in French.
Your licence to the iOS software is also subject to Apple's applicable App Store terms and standard end-user licence agreement unless Apple presents a different agreement for the app.
2. Eligibility and accounts
You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into these Terms. You must provide accurate account information, protect access to your device and sign-in method, and promptly tell us if you suspect unauthorized access.
Your account is personal. Do not sell, transfer or permit another person to use it. You are responsible for activity performed through your account unless applicable law provides otherwise.
3. Purpose and wellness limits
Star Within can help you record intentions, reflect, plan actions, create images, receive reminders, use optional on-device AI, and communicate information you choose to share with René.
Star Within is not psychotherapy, medical care, diagnosis, treatment, legal advice, financial advice or a substitute for a qualified professional. Using the app does not by itself create a therapist-client, physician-patient, fiduciary or other regulated professional relationship.
Intentions, affirmations, manifestation practices, AI suggestions and guidance cannot guarantee an event, result, relationship, recovery or change in circumstances. You remain responsible for your decisions, actions and safety.
4. Emergencies and crisis support
Star Within and its messaging features are not monitored as an emergency or crisis service. Do not use the app when you need immediate help.
5. Your content and sharing
You keep ownership of the text, images and other content you create. You give Star Therapy and its service providers a limited, non-exclusive licence to host, process, display, transmit and delete that content only as needed to operate, secure and support Star Within and follow your choices.
Intentions are private by default. When you select Share Live with René, future changes to that intention may remain visible to René until you stop sharing. Send a Snapshot to René sends a copy representing the information at that time. Guidance requests and messages send the content you choose to include.
Do not upload content you do not have the right to use, content that violates another person's privacy or intellectual-property rights, or unlawful or harmful content. Consider carefully before including highly sensitive information.
6. Apple Intelligence
Optional AI features use Apple's on-device Foundation Models on supported devices. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete, inappropriate or unsuitable for your circumstances. Review it critically and do not rely on it for professional or high-risk decisions.
AI may help prepare a draft for René, but René must review and deliberately send it. The app does not permit an AI draft to impersonate René or to be sent automatically.
7. Notifications
If you enable notifications, Star Within may send reminders, message alerts and badges. Delivery is not guaranteed and may be delayed or blocked by Apple, network conditions or device settings. Notifications must never be used as your only reminder for medication, safety, appointments or another time-critical matter.
You can change notification permission in iOS Settings and available reminder settings in the app.
8. Acceptable use
You must not:
- use Star Within for an unlawful, fraudulent, abusive, threatening or exploitative purpose;
- harass, impersonate or endanger another person;
- attempt to access another account, private content or administrative function;
- probe, bypass or interfere with authentication, App Check, security rules, rate limits or service infrastructure;
- introduce malicious code or use automated means that burden or scrape the service; or
- copy, reverse engineer or commercially exploit the app except where applicable law expressly permits it.
9. Ownership and licence
Star Therapy and its licensors own Star Within, including its software, design, branding, original text and other materials, excluding your content. Subject to these Terms, you receive a personal, limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to use the app on Apple devices you own or control as permitted by Apple's rules.
No ownership rights are transferred to you. Feedback may be used to improve the service without an obligation to compensate you, while respecting the Privacy Policy.
10. Third-party services
Star Within relies on Apple and Google Firebase technologies and may link to Square or other external services. Their products, accounts, availability and data practices are governed by their own terms and policies. Star Therapy does not control an external service and is not responsible for its content or operation, subject to rights that cannot be excluded by law.
11. Changes and availability
We may maintain, improve, add, remove or discontinue features. Device compatibility, Apple Intelligence, network access and third-party services can affect availability. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation.
If we materially change these Terms, we will post the updated version and provide additional notice or obtain consent where required. Continued use after a valid change takes effect means you accept the updated Terms, except where law requires a different process.
12. Account deletion and suspension
You may permanently delete your account through Account and Data in the app. The deletion process and its limits are described in the Privacy Policy.
We may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to protect users or the service, investigate misuse, comply with law, or address a material breach. Where appropriate and lawful, we will provide notice and a reasonable opportunity to address the issue.
Provisions that by their nature should continue—such as ownership, lawful limitations, dispute terms and obligations concerning prior conduct—survive account closure.
13. Disclaimers and liability
Star Within is provided on an “as available” basis. To the extent permitted by law, Star Therapy disclaims implied warranties not expressly stated here and is not responsible for indirect, incidental or consequential loss caused by using or being unable to use the app.
These Terms do not exclude legal warranties, consumer rights, remedies or liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited. In particular, nothing limits rights available under Quebec's Consumer Protection Act, the Civil Code of Québec or other mandatory law. Any limitation applies only to the maximum extent permitted in your situation.
14. Governing law and contact
These Terms are governed by the laws of Quebec and the applicable federal laws of Canada, without taking away any mandatory protection of the law that applies to you. Quebec courts have jurisdiction subject to any mandatory consumer forum or other jurisdiction required by law.
Before starting formal proceedings, we encourage you to contact us so we can try to resolve the issue. This does not shorten or waive a legal deadline or right.
